Summer Activities

When the snow melts, summer activities in Snowmass take over. And with the long, warm days that seem to last forever, you can stretch your Snowmass hike, bike ride, or outdoor activity long into the evening. Here are some of our favorite things to do in the summer in Snowmass, Colorado and the surrounding area.

Start the day with a hike to the top of the Rim Trail, or the Ditch Trail overlook. Both afford gorgeous views of Snowmass Village and are accessible to families. Hike.GoSnowmass.com is a great resource for planning hikes of all sorts.

Choose your saddle - head out to explore Snowmass' trails either on horseback with Snowmass Creek Outfitters, or by mountain bike. There are miles and miles of trails that leave right from town, and when you've ridden all of those, you can head out farther afield in the greater Aspen Snowmass area. Bike.GoSnowmass.com is a great resource for finding mountain biking trails for any ability.

Take a scenic gondola ride and chairlift ride to the top of Elk Camp and see the iconic Maroon Bells. You can also hike to the top. At 11.325', the view from the top will literally take your breath away. Our reservations team can help you buy tickets prior to arrival to save time.

Plan a day or two in the Lost Forest on Snowmass mountain. An alpine coaster, zip line tour, and challenge course are just a few of the activities that will keep you moving through the forest all day long.

Head into Aspen on Saturday morning for the Aspen Saturday Market. Bustling with farm fresh produce, bakeries, craft stands, and food vendors, the Aspen Saturday Market offers exclusively Colorado sourced products, including all of the food. It is a feast for the senses.

Take the Silver Queen Gondola to the top of Aspen mountain. Kids can explore the interactive art installations, play with giant trucks in the sand box, and run around on the playground equipment. Everyone can enjoy the spectacular view. The gondola combines perfectly with the Aspen Saturday Market, and is a favorite way for local families to spend their Saturdays.

Go for a Hot Air Balloon ride above the Roaring Fork Valley and see Aspen Snowmass from above.
